Silver Membership

Upgrading to Silver membership

Each day we will assess your membership for an upgrade based on the number of Status Credits earned and Eligible Sectors flown in the previous 12 months. As soon as your Status Credit balance reaches 250 and you have flown 2 Eligible Sectors you will automatically upgrade to Silver membership.

Maintaining Silver membership

To maintain Silver membership, you need to earn 200 Status Credits and fly 2 Eligible Sectors within your 12 month benefit period.

Priority Phone Service
Upgrade Using Points
  • You can use your Velocity Points to upgrade from a Flexi seat (fare classes Y, B, H, K, L)  to a Premium or Business seat on domestic and international short haul flights marketed and operated by Virgin Australia, and Virgin Samoa.
  • You can request an Upgrade Using Points up to 4 hours prior to your flight subject to Premium or Business Reward Seat availability.

Seating Preferences
  • Select and store your seating preference in your Velocity Account.

We will apply your preference wherever possible when flying with Virgin Australia. Best efforts will be taken to allocate your seat preference to your booking.

Advance Seat Selection
  • You can now select your seat at the time of booking free of charge, or at the time of check-in. Following a booking, you can make a seat selection by calling the Guest Contact Centre.
Preferential Seating
  • On flights marketed and operated by Virgin Australia, you can select your preferred seat from reserved zones, which are determined by your Velocity membership level and the fare class booked.
  • When making a flight booking with Virgin Australia, including any bookings using Points, you will need to login to your Velocity Account via the panel on the right hand side of the page when selecting your preferred flights. This will ensure the appropriate seats available for your level of membership are displayed correctly.
TRAVEL BENEFITS: At the airport
Priority Check-in when travelling internationally
  • Silver members can access Priority Check-in when flying internationally with Virgin Australia.
Virgin Australia lounge
  • Enjoy two single entry passes to domestic Virgin Australia lounges (valid for 6 months), plus discounted annual membership.
  • Visit the Virgin Australia lounge.
Complimentary Baggage Allowance
  • Baggage allowance on domestic and international short haul flights is based on both your fare type and your membership level at the time of travel. For more information on baggae allowance, please click here.
  • One extra piece to the specification of the cabin class flown when flying to the US with Virgin Australia.
  • An additional 10kg to your ticketed allowance when flying to other international long haul destinations with Virgin Australia, excluding codeshare flights operated by Singapore Airlines.

Please note that these baggage allowances are applicable for Virgin Australia and Virgin Samoa operated services only. On Virgin Australia marketed services operated by our international airline partners, baggage allowances may differ.

Priority Waitlist
  • Silver members will receive priority when waitlisted for an upcoming Virgin Australia or Virgin Samoa marketed and operated flight. Subject to availability, priority will be allocated based on tier.

To ensure uninterrupted access to your travel benefits, please remember to carry your valid Velocity membership card with you at all times when travelling with airline partners.

FAMILY BENEFITS
Family Pooling (Points and Status Credits)
  • Velocity members may choose to pool Points or Points and Status Credits of family members into one Account.
  • There may be a maximum of 6 family members living at the same address involved in a pool including up to four children under the age of 18 and two adults 18 years or over, including the member being pooled to.
  • Login to your Account to setup Family Pooling.
Membership pause for Parental Leave
  • Members can pause their membership for a period of 6 months when they are expecting an addition to the family and their travelling is likely to be reduced.
  • To apply for a membership pause, members must provide documentation of pregnancy, recent or future child birth or adoption of a child in the form of a doctor’s certificate, a birth certificate or an adoption or foster parent registration.
